Control your house from Internet

I have finish my high school in a technical school from Paraguay, there was where I learn a few of electronic.

I remember a project that I’ve done that was turn on and off electrical devices with a computer using the Parallel Port (LPT25). If you know a few of electronic, this is nothing new. This could be done with a contactors, optoacoplers, or other devices that gives the possibility to use the 5V of a logic true as a “SWITCH” for turn off or on something.

For make this project a little bit interesting, the software that controls that was done in C. But this kind of project was very common, so I decide to give the possibility to control It by Internet, you may wonder how?. Well It is simple my friend. If the computer has a public IP just install Apache or a simple Web-Server (tHttp), and use with PHP/MySQL. And what happened if the PC doesn’t have a public IP?. Simple, there is a main server, the Home-Controller (The PC) has a keep alive connection with a Main Server with a Public IP, and there is not more projects.

This project was working 4 years ago. I may lost most part of the code changing my computer, deleting something, I don’t know, I need to search. I am interesting to continue this project with someone that wants to help me. Because what could be done with this project is unlimited. Imagine, get video from your house at your mobile phone, or controls the alarms, lights, what your children are watching on TV, from all around the world or in your mobile.

Also it could be done for great industries for tele-control, or why not… get videos from a webcam in real time to your mobile device.

If you are interesting, please let me know. I want to expand this project for use like a Thesis, and also build something commercial with this
